Whatcha think?

PocketDrive

It seems it's just a combo Firewire/USB enclosure for a 2.5" laptop drive. Anybody use one? I'm thinking of getting one (30 GB) once the USB 2 version is available. (The USB 1 version is painfully slow - several hours for a full transfer, and I need to be able to transfer files from PC<-->Mac OS X.)

looks like a good case, but if you're looking for something smaller, you might want to check out the case i picked up on the weekend. it's smaller, though possibly not as robust.

I was at Apple Canada a year ago and one of the Apple employee's couldn't stop raving about the laCie Pocket Drive.

Just look at the attention to detail on it. The way it has rubber around the edges for save guarding if you drop it and they even put grooves around it so you can wrap the cords around it. Awesome.

Are they planning on a USB 2.0 version?

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

They said in a news release yes, but I dunno if it's USB 2 only or USB 2 plus Firewire.

rjenkinson, that thing looks good, but it officially only supports OS 8.5 on the Mac. Does it work with OS X?

as usual, you can ignore the requirements on the box. it's supported in OS 9.x and OS X without using any third-party drivers. sweet!

I have the Lacie pocket drive and let me say it is very nice. Works fine in OSX. It is fast and quite. I love mine.
