I've heard that you could swap out the hard drive with one of Toshiba's new bigger ones. I'd love to have a 20GB iPod. Has anybody tried this, or know how it would work? Do you just pop the case open and swap the drives? Sorry if this topic has already been posted...[/LIST]

Where can you get those drives and what are the specs?

I don't really need more than 5GB...but...then again, why not?

the 10GB is exactly the same size as the 5GB drive, but the 20 GB is 3mm thicker. Go to Toshiba's site and check. You might also look into the prices, for what you'd pay for a 10 or 20 GB drive, you could almost buy a new iPod - Apple gets a volume discount, you don't.

The iPod uses a bare Toshiba drive. The drives you'd buy would come in a PCMCIA card format.
