I am having trouble determining a good image size setting for use with a Sony digital camera. I have the Cybershot S70 and would like to put the memory stick into the Epson Photo 875DCS and have the photos print out as 4x6.
I am having trouble with this because if I have the image size be 2048x1536, 1600x1200 or even 1280x960 the print size is huge.
Any help would be appreciated.

I say get the shot as large as possible. To print you can always shrink later...
Enlarging is much harder though.
Go for full size...

I have a Kodak DC280 2.1MP camera and an Epson Photo 870. I take all my pictures at the highest resolution and resize later. What I find works best is to open the picture in Photoshop. I resize it there, but more important, when setting the image size, I increase the resolution to 300 dpi. The pictures default to 72dpi and they don't print as well. At 300dpi they look better than what I get developed from my 35mm. Paper is also key. Use the Kodak Premium Glossy Photo paper and you can't go wrong. Epson's paper has issues with fading too quickly over time.

Paul,
Do you turn off "resampling"?
Do you print out a 4x6 size? If so, what are your image size settings in Photoshop? If you turn off resampling (to keep the high resolution) then you cannot get a 4x6 print size. Do you then set the 4x6 print size in the print options?
Thanks for the help!

All I do when setting up a picture to print is change the print size dimensions and dpi in the image size window. I don't mess with anything else. I created a template in Photoshop to print 4 pictures on a 8.5 x 11 page. I know they aren't 4x6, they turn out to be more like 5 x 3.5, but it saves me a lot of paper, and the premium glossy stuff isn't cheap. I just drew lines and would copy and paste the resized picture onto the template and position them in the lines. Turn off the lines layer and print. Using that method has turned out some amazing prints. Let me know if you have more questions about it, I'm happy to help. Oh, and a really nice paper cutter helps. You don't want a great print with uneven cuts.
