Can a PC parallel to usb adapter work on the Mac? It isn't a question about the cable, I'm sure that is the same, but is software required for the computer to be able to recognize a device connected to the parallel port? Specifically a printer.

The cable by itself will not work... you also need the printer driver so that the computer can communicate with the printer. Strydent (formally Infowave) Software ( http://204.239.210.50/ ) sells PowerPrint 5.0, a package which includes a serial to USB cable plus a multitude of printer drivers. Hope this helps.

Cheers!
Chris
