I bought a 56k v.90 sportster about 6 months ago,now I keep getting a "there was no carrier signal" message when I try to dial up. I tried it on another computer and I got the same message any my other modem seams to work fine. My problem is that I cant get a hold of anybody to get it replaced. I tried the website which is terrible, couldnt even find a email address. tried calling the number off the webpage which sent me through 4 different "push this number if" messages ,which made me type my model number in,only to have a recording tell me that I have to dial a 900 number which is gonna cost me 2.00 a minute. I cant believe I would have to pay 2 bucks a minute for tech support on a modem I only bought 6 months ago. My question is , has anybody ever got a hold of these people.

PS, Im using a freinds modem, just incase anyones wandering how I got online.
Thanks in advance.

When you used other modems was it on the same phone line? I doubt this is it but line quality often affects modems including both my iMac one and global village one. They give the same message.

Sounds like it could be your ISP instead of the modem.
Check the "Ignore dial tone" option in the modem control panel.
Try some new modem scripts.

The Us robotics worked fine before with my isp,and this one works fine.My sisters comp at another house has a different isp and we get the same message when i tried the us robotics modem over there on her computer. And there was only one modem at a time on the phone line.Im pretty sure its the modem.I tried different scrips, resetting it.Pretty much everything i could think of.
