I got a 40GB Fujitsu 7200 rpm drive for my cube! (MPG3409AH-E)

Everything worked great in the beginning but soon it started to behave strange...
It suddenly began to perform massive recalibration/searching or something like it - it made the same sound as is it did performing a 2GB filecopy, during this time the disk cant be accessed causing system to almost halt.

my first thought was that OS X did something strange while dumping the WM, but soon it did the same in OS 9 and it even did it while booting OS 9 causing the startup procedure to take close to 4 minutes instead of 1!

Have anyone heard about a disk doing this before?
Can it be due to the high temperature inside tha cube combined with the vertically mounted disk?

I've have reformated it but it still does the same. And the fujitsu support recomends me to run a diagnostic tool to check it out but this app is a DOS app and I dont have a pc to put it in!
