I got my iPod on December 21 Its very nice and on the whole I'm pleased with it. However, on a couple (well at least one) track, it seems to misbehave.
Looks like some pointers are a little messed up; rather than loading in a song, I get 5 secondish chunks of random tracks. This happens in the middle of normal operation and goes away once you skip past the track that misbehaves. I can reproduce the fault by skipping back to the track.

Is this a simple disk corruption thing or a design feature? I admit to not having dismounting the thing before disconnecting it a couple of times, but all transfers were finished. Anywho Happy new year peeps

I dream things that never were and say why not?

I used to have related (but not as bad as you mentioned) problems with the iPod playing 320kbps mp3s. It seems this problem was fixed in the firmware update 1.0.3, which I believe devoted more processor power to playback.

If you say it happens on possibly just a few tracks, maybe those mp3s could be corrupted.

My iPod skiped the other day when I was throwing it back down on my car seat.

Now, I've had my Nomad Jukebox for over a year now.. and its NEVER done that! Sure, the display is horribly slow and bulky compared to the iPod, and it feels like it weighs more then my tibook, but it has NEVER skiped!

Oh well, I'm going to keep my iPod reguardless. You just don't get the gasp factor w/ the ole' Jukebox that you get w/ the iPod.
