I got an iPod for Christmas. It worked like a charm with the Pismo I had available to me at the time (9.0.4). Now, I'm back home and it isn't being detected by my G4 400 (10.1.2). The iPod is version 1.0.2. It does not show up as a removable volume, it does not show up in iTunes2.0.3 sources, it doesn't show up in System Profiler. All it does it sit there and charge. So, there's power going to the iPod, but it is not detected as a device.

I've tried all the immediate possibilities: restarting, unplugging all other FW devices, booting into 9.2.2, restarting iPod, resetting iPod, plugging and unplugging, switching FW ports, etc. Nothing has worked. Does anybody have any idea what's going on? Is there anyway I can restore the iPod wo/ using the updater program? I'm thinking a clean sweep of the drive should help.

I had a problem where it would power on and show the Apple logo and just sit there without communicating. I switched to a different firewire cable and it hasn't had a problem since. The one that I got with the iPod is apparently junk.

If that's your symptom, you might want to try another firewire cable.
