I recently bought a new usb drive since my old one is puny.
And I am having a little problem. I reformatted it into HFS+ in the disk utility, but every time I plug it in, Untitled appears on the desktop but Toast Titatium opens automatically.
Oddly enough in the Disk Utility, it appears that it has two drives- 973.8 mb sandisk U3... and Sandisk U3 cruzer micro. Is it partioned? I want to get rid of one and just make it not open the Toast app.
Here's the link of what I see:

Anyone has this experience, and is there a way to solve this problem?
Thanks!
OSX 10.4.7 Dual 2 Ghz PowerPC G5

Nevermind, I solved the problem.
Unfortunately the disc image that sent Toast Titanium to start up is only visible on Windows. It is a U2 software to 'help' you move your files. so I had to go in a PC and run this app called u3 uninstall.exe to remove the darn U3 software. Here's the link-http://www.u3.com/uninstall

Hi skytalon,
did you get rid of the U3 disk which appears every time you plug it in?
I'm trying to do that, because it's really stupid to have that disk appearing and not being even able to use it on OSX

Hello
The procedure works great, even after having trashed whatever visible partition using Disk Utility.
The U3 uninstall.exe works from the PC local drive. So. Get the software (answer the poll questions). Copy it on your U3 "jerk" flash drive; Go to a PC; Plug it in, let it reinstall the software you've trashed when you zaped the partition; Then copy the unistaller to a Temp directory; Run it from there; let it go up to the end; Select the leftover volume and format it FAT32. Et voilĂ .
Now, back to the initial question: In order to avoid Toast from firing up when the U3 "jerk" drive mounts on, go to System Preferences / CDs & DVDs; then select "Ignore" to "When you instert a blank CD:"
Enjoy now your U3 "free" flash drive.

okay, i know very little about reformatting drives and such, but i just bought one of these and it's been working great between mac and PC like i need, but i noticed some silly little windows-related files and applications that i don't want to have around, and after a day of use, i had it reporting 1.15GB (out of 2) remaining when there was nothing on it but the "system" folder and it's weirdly-coded contents. my question is this:
how do i format this thing so it will run on windows and mac without partition, and without the automatic software that's pre-loaded on it? i just want a click and drag sort of thing but i don't want to go and do something stupid and ruin my drive (or worse restrict it to only working on one OS).
can someone please give me some simple steps or something?
much appreciated :]
