I didn't know where to put this (forum wise), so I put it here in peripherals.

I just bought one of the iPods from the Apple store - my credit card shows that apple charged 6.30 so far. Apple says they don't charge your cc untill they ship. What I'm wondering is what is this 6.30 and will it change to $400 or whatever when it's a completed transaction? Or will they charge me a seperate charge?

Thanks

No, your total price for the iPod is 6.30. I'll be shipped by FedEx overnight, which is included in the price.

But seriously. When I purchased an item at the Apple store, the entire amount was immediately charged to the card (most of the items were is stock though(. I don't know why the apple store would charge such a small amount. However, I have read that shipping might start before the announced nov 10 date, when the iPod will be available in retail stores. Maybe, you're lucky and you'll get you iPod sooner than you thought.

Heh, that's not what I meant - I'm asking because if they charge it seperate than the first charge, then I am screwed and can't get an ipod. If they send in the real amount as the same transaction, then I'll just owe $400 hehehe.

It could be that Apple's going to change the price of the iPod, and they don't want to overcharge you yet. Many people seem to be complaining about the price at this point.

A lot of companies will 'hold' amounts on your credit card to ensure you have sufficient funds for the purchase. But usually it's for the amount of purchase. Not really sure why they would charge you $6.30. How bizarre...

Yeah, I know - I'm hoping the 6.30 will turn to $400 and not $400 as a seperate transaction because i have no money in my debit card, but if the 6.30 changes to $400, then I'll be in debt of $400.

hehehe
