I can only see 128GB after connecting a new Seagate 250GB HD in an old Maxtor Firewire External Storage (N256). Although I have tryed different jumper positions on the HD this is the only capacity perceived by Disk Utility and System Profiler. I am connecting by Firewire to PowerBook G4 running MacOSX 10.4.7.
Tks for any clues.

That's a BIOS issue... it shouldn't affect any Mac...

Older Firewire enclosures didn't have LBA48 support. Therefore, only 128GB can be seen. In some cases there were firmware updates to address this issue. I guess the best you can do is check the manufacturer's website...
