I read in MacIntouch that the new Pro Keyboard needs an upgrade to the USB Device Extension, from 1.41, which comes in OS 9.04 to 1.43. Any idea where to get the updated driver?

It isn't available to us yet. The Software Update control panel and Apple's softare update page should eventually have the new USB driver.

If you need the new USB driver now, copy it from a newly released Mac. (This probably isn't necessary because Apple won't be selling the Pro Keyboard without new Macs for at least another month.)

Tell me about it. I ordered mine from the Apple Store UK, and the build time was listed as 45 days

It's sad that Apple is making this only for Mac OS 9.0.4.. how about those (like me) who can't afford OS 9, and like OS 8.6 just the same for it's faster, less RAM-bogging, more stable OS? I want the Pro keyboard now, and I want it because I like how the Apple Design Keyboard has responsive keys and how the USB keyboard that came with this G3 has a 'soft' touch, but the USB keyboard causes me to type many errors and the ADK is too noisy.

I hear that the Pro Keyboard is soft, and has the responsive touch 'feel' ADK has. I really want one, and I'm not going to upgrade to Mac OS 9 unless Apple sends me a copy or something.

au contraire, 9.04 kills 8.6 for stability... if you know anything about what you are up to (not a jab at you, but it is true true true)

RAM hog? just wait for OS X... you may as well get used to it... newer means more in just about every way!

my perspective is long in the tooth, my friend... no getting around it, might as well tilt at windmills like Don Quixote as to rail against sys requirements and progress in general... and it IS progress!!

start with 128M of RAM (newbies) and add more ASAP

I agree, 9.04 is way more stable than 8.6 or any recent version of MacOS, IMHO. My beige G3 tower has been up and running for months without a reboot and I use it almost everyday. My PB (Pismo) is rock solid, unless IE chokes. Even then it has only forced a reboot of the system once in two months, and I use it everyday too. I will be taking my time moving to OS X. I really love the performance I am getting now.
