I am interested in this as well... I think the prices of these 24x burners are great... and I need to replace my 8X burner badly...

I hear Yamaha is one of the best... although, I never had any problems with my 8X plextor.

Does it necessarily need to be a Yamaha? I have a Que! FireWire.

I have an older Yamaha 12x firewire drive and it works great under 9.2.2 with iTunes 2.03. I haven't tried it on X, though. I'm interested in those 24x drives, too.

Fry's had a recent promo for TDK veloCD drives for $109 BEFORE a $50 rebate which I purchased and installed in a $68 firewire external drive case.

Fantastic combo and fast.

The next best bundle was here: http://www.caldrives.com/Merchant2/m...41040sanyo-pci

We also purchased one. It is 24x10x40 (Sanyo BurnProof mechanism) free firewire PCI card and guaranteed to work with iTunes.

Check these two sites for all you need to know:

In my experience, Yamahas are among the very best of burners. their 8mb buffer is 4 times what most burners offer (2mb), so you never get buffer underruns. i have a 16x10x40 drive (2100ez) in a firewire case and absolutely love it. i have no experience with the exact drive you are interested in, but this is my 2nd yamaha burner ( i had a 4x4x16 scsi back in the old days). I wholeheartedly endorse yamaha.
cheers.
