Okay, I've searched through just about every post, and have not heard from anyone that has bought a Firewire HD for their imac, and successfully used it for video editing. I want to get one because I want it dedicated for longer movies I am creating with Final Cut and imovie. I really don't feel up to swapping out the HD in my dvse, because it works fine, and the 13GB is perfect for my regular computing needs.

A 20 GB firewire drive would be great for me as I can transport from home to work, etc., and leave my internal for regular needs.

Can someone help me? I mainly want to know if anyone has one, and if you can use it for video editing, ie can you digitize directly to the firewire drive.

only advice I can offer is that if you are on a budget, get a fast IDE drive (30.7 gig Maxtor 7200RPM ATA/100 for US$170) and put it in a FW casing that's around US$50-100.
G4/450, T-bird 1.05GHz, iBook 500, iBook 233...4 different machines, 4 different OSes...(9, 2k, X.1, YDL2.2 respectively) PiA to maintain...
