Moderators: Posting this here as the buy/sell forum seems to be people who are actually buying and selling. I just want community input, okay? Okay then --

Getting a new G4 shortly. Yea for me. However I'm not willing to sacrifice a precious PCI-slot to support a legacy CDRW. (Getting the the 36GBUltra160 SCSI drive, but I want the other channel open for future use). So I've decided to get rid of my existing CDRW and get a firewire based solution. Say what you will about firewire, i need the open pci slots so there really isn't another option. (USB? Hah. Yea. Right.)

the drive in question is a APS cased Yamaha drive, a 4x4x16. For those of you not familiar with APS products, they're truly well engineered and soundly built products. I already have a buyer lined up, but I want to charge her a fair price. The drive is only six months old, in fantastic condition, and far from obsolete.

So, thoughts on a fair price? I was thinking around US$200 or so, especially considering that I'll be installing both the drive and a SCSI card for her ;-)

id look around and try to find the drive on ebay, or, better yet, outpost.com, maczone.com, warehouse.com or something, to see what they are charging for it. Charge a fair price but dont screw yourself. You are installing it and all, so be fair to yourself too. I'll take it off your hands for ya if u cant decide, just let me know. ;-)

let's see...back then, I bought the 6/4/16 external Yamaha for US$235, and 2930U SCSI for US$70, and the SCSI cable for US$20. (then there's shipping and tax...) I guess $200 for a used 4/4/16 sounds 'bout right.
G4/450, T-bird 1.05GHz, iBook 500, iBook 233...4 different machines, 4 different OSes...(9, 2k, X.1, YDL2.2 respectively) PiA to maintain...
