Which is better for recording music from the internet and for copying music CD's
Which gives better fidelity. I have a G4
Which type of CD-RW would be better: ZipCD, firewire, USB external or internal. What are the better brands. I would like to spend under $350. Thanks
i just bought a firewire 8x4x32 Que! drive. DO NOT buy a usb cd burner. the firedrive by qps was $349 (i got mine for 320) and it works well. you can also get a yamaha, they are probably the best and also a Lacie is good. I'd definitely recommend Yamaha but if you do get one it will probably need to be a SCSI.

someone mentioned that Yamaha is making a FW burner. In the mean time, SCSI Yamaha 8/4/24 (32?) will cost 'bout US$250 and Adaptec 2930U SCSI card (the one Apple has for BTO) cost 'bout US$75
Or, Plextor 12/8/32 internal IDE + seperate FW case...will need a lot of handy work yourself, but probably the best option for US$350...
G4/450, T-bird 1.05GHz, iBook 500, iBook 233...4 different machines, 4 different OSes...(9, 2k, X.1, YDL2.2 respectively) PiA to maintain...
Yamaha's are by far the best burners on the market.
I have the aforementioned 8424SX-VK which is an external SCSI 8x4x24 and its brilliant. Never had a coaster that wasn't my fault. It runs through an Adaptec 2906.
There is a firewire version available.
Check out http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/
for details. Its there somewhere...
