Monitor Problems?

My brother has a Power Macintosh 6500 hooked up to a 17" Apple monitor at home. He came to visit me and wanted me to help him with some applications using his computer. I told him to just bring his CPU because I had a 17" NEC monitor he could use. When we hooked up his computer to my monitor, we got multiple images of the screen just like what I have seen on a computer when you have the wrong video card installed. Couldn't even shut down because you really couldn't see the menus good enough. We also tried it on a 15" NEC monitor with the same results.

We had to use an adapter for plugging the NEC to the back of the 6500 because the monitor is set up for PC or Mac. We thought it might be a bad adapter but we bought a new one but the results were the same.

Any idea what might be causing this? He had no problems before he came.

Thanks,

-Steve

This is just a shot in the dark, as I really have no other ideas (and I see no one else has either)--

You mention that you told him to "bring the CPU". Is it possible that some of the VRAM jarred loose during travel? Or something like that???

Perplexing.
