Sorry if this thread already exists. Search didn't find anything for me.

Does anybody use DVD duplicator towers? Soon I will be needing to make tons of copies to get out to people and I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions. Do they perform well or would I be better off just running them off in an internal burner?

If anybody has one, what size and how much do they run? I haven't been able to find many stores that sell them at what seems like a sane price.

Thanks for your help!

People are scared of being associated with a thread about DVD duplicaton that doesn't mention a legitimate purpose for such duplication. The RIAA is evil, but sneaky, too. Nobody wants to seem to be helpful of bad people doing bad things.

If you tell us what you're going to be duplicating (home movies for friends and relations all over the world, presentations for a large-scale conference, etc.) I think more people will feel comfortable helping you out.

I doubt people care. I'm pretty sure when I look at threads on DVD burning hardware nobody announces that they are burning copies of high school chorus concerts. I'm pretty sure it's not relevant.

The fact that you're not forthcoming about what you want to burn will probably put people off a little bit. What do you have to hide? You could at least explain your reasoning behind telling us why you don't want to tell us what you're duplicating.

And by the way, I care.

Sorry, I put a subtle explanation in there. I have to video tape high school chorus concerts throughout the year. The parents always want copies. I dont know how that changes anything but I guess it cant hurt.

Ah yes. Stupid me.

Well, if you're only making three or four copies for your parents, I don't see the feasibility of ultra-expensive DVD duplicators (at least respectively) compared to burning 4 copies for your parents & related family.

Check out Diskmakers. They send me catalogs from time to time after I sent in for some free DVDs. They have some interesting devices to make professional-looking duplicates. They also have Mac-compatible and stand-alone systems.

No, not my parents. Well I guess my parents are included but every parent of every student in the chorus. The chorus is like 115 kids. That's why I dont want to burn this on my MBP.

Yes, I know it can. It would be nice to burn 2-5 at a time instead on making copies in my already useless MBP superdrive. No matter what burning utility I use I always get DVDs that cut out, skip, and distort pixels which is pretty upsetting in itself.

Maybe you need better media? Or maybe you're burning at speeds faster than the discs are rated for? How was the video encoded in the first place, maybe the MPEG-2 files are faulty.

Anyway, 115 DVDs *is* quite a lot to burn. But maybe you should go to a service like vinster mentioned rather that buying probably expensive DVD duplicating hardware.

You say "pa TAY toe" and I say "pa TOT oh," but it's all the same-idiots who try to maintain a cash cow that only makes the suits rich...

Either way, SOMEONE will be looking at this post. If they didn't do that kind of "data mining" how would they know which 7 year old kid or which granny to sue?

I am leaning away from using a DVD service because I really prefer to take care of things myself. I will be wanting to do this on my own time and I really dont want to hastle with experimenting with companies for chance that I will get ripped off. Plus, in the near future I am starting my own media oriented non profit organization....but that's a whole other story.

The link has both DVD duplication hardware and services. It looks like you're probably going to have to spend about $500 to get a decent system, though. You could probably build one yourself by doing some research.
