I have the Clubmac Firewire/IDE case reviewed on this site and three available IDE CD-RW drives to test it with: a TDK 8x/4/32x, HP 9100+, and an HP 8250i. None work. I understand that the drivers included with my case are the same as the ones supplied with the Clubmac CD-RW (both include FireSCSI), but what mechanism does the Clubmac combo use? I really need to know to get my setup working. Any help is greatly appreciated.

What toast are you using?

Also, I believe the Firewire Bridge board has firmware, which can be modified depending on what it is to be used for...

Does SCSIprobe show the CD-R?

Forget about using the FireSCSI driver. This driver is sold with the Indigita bridge card.
Extensive testing has been done with different CDR/CDRW's and the OEM's know what drives are qualified. You need to contact CLUB MAC to see what drives are qualified.
If it is not an Indigita bridge card then all bets are off. A quick test is that if you can put your thumb between the connectors then it's an Indigita card otherwise it's not.

Hope this helps.

I'm using Toast 4.0 Deluxe, which is sadly lacking in support for ATAPI, USB, and Firewire devices. The Indigita SCSI Scanner app that comes with the software shows a bus and a device, but no information for the device. I pulled the adapter out, and it's made by Orange Micro. It has to work with Indigita's drivers, unless Clubmac made an incorrect choice and bundled inoperative software with their case. They told me it would work with any CD-RW I could drop in, but I guess he didn't really know...

I am really disappointed in the lack of any reasonably priced Firewire CD-RW drives, and I have lots of extra ATAPI ones just sitting around. If ANYONE can give me ANY WAY to get ANY ONE OF THEM to work, I would be immensely grateful. If anyone knows of a drive that will work with the Orange Micro board, or when/if Toast will have support for any Firewire configuration, please tell me. I'm getting tired of this.
