Does anybody know how I can customize the MM to execute a command-click whenever I depress down on the scroll ball?

System Preferences / Keyboard & Mouse / Mouse...

I'm not sure if you have to install the MIghty Mouse drivers or not, but I know that if you do, then it will show your Mighty Mouse and all of it's custom settings in the Mouse preference pane, instead of showing the default settings such as a Tracking speed, etc. If you can get to that screen then the rest is easy. Just click around on the drop down boxes and you'll figure it out in no time.

Well, that's where I went but it wasn't "easy" for me. Could you please just tell me if you know?

The closest approximation is setting the Mighty Mouse software to "button 3" for the scroll-ball button.
I'll function the same as a ⌘-click in Safari, Firefox and some other apps, but actually it sends a "mouse button 3" signal, not a "keypress (⌘) + primary click" so not all apps expecting a ⌘-click will recognize it.
