I just got a Jenoptik JD350 digital camera. It has a USB port but no software for the Mac, only windows 98. If it stored the pictures on a compactflash card I could just buy a card reader, but it stores them on internal memory, so I need to be able to use the USB connection.

When I plug it in the iMac has a little think and then brings up a dialogue that says "Drivers needed for the USB device "GrandTech 8911" are not available - would you like to look for them over the internet?" but it can't find them.

Is there any software available that would let me get the pictures on to my iMac? (short of buying Virtual PC). I expect I need either a Photoshop Acquire plug-in or a USB driver extension, or maybe both. Is there perhaps some software that is the digital camera equivalent of "USB Overdrive"?

The next version of Mac OS 9 is supposed to support acquiring images from USB digital cameras, but if you bought it soley for that purpose, then you'd be better off just buying VPC for 49 bucks, and installing Win98 on it.

If you clear the dialog that appears when you plug in the device, what happens next?

Question, have you tried out the downloads on this page: http://www.eyelike.com/eyelike/frame...f_service.html

Can't hurt.

I'm downloading the software from the link you provided now (thanks) - I'll let you know what happens, but I'm not that confident as it doesn't mention USB.

I sent an email to Jenoptik-UK yesterday, but no reply as yet.

If I clear the dialogue box that asks if you want to search for drivers over the internet, then nothing happens. I'm interested - where does the OS search for drivers anyway?

Update: no luck with the software I'm afraid - just gives errors.
