I have a Mac mini and got a scary message this morning...it said that my computer had to be restarted...it was wierd!!! It was a message in a grey box and in a few different languages. It happened for what seemed like no reason....I was just listening to an online radio station and I had a coupel browsers open and my chat clients open (Adium and Mercury). Never got this message before but the last time I saw a SIMILAR looking message in a grey box, I had to redo the OS. I didn't have to this time, but this episode makes me want to get an external hd.

Anyone knoww of one that is pretty stable and decent? Do external hds come with backup software already? I want it to automaticlaly backup but I don't want to pay a subscription to something that does it....if I have to buy a program I want it to do it forever without having to keep paying for it each year. If such a program exists, let me know about that too! But for now, I just want a suggestion for a good external hd I can use to backup my music, photos and docs. As far as size goes, I could probably get like 80 to 100 GB. My current mini is 40GB pre-intel.

TIA.
