Uses I've found for my iPod so far:
1.Portable MP3 player(Who would have thought?)
2.Storage space
3.Killing time playing Breakout
4.Makes a nice little flashlight
5.Keeps my hands warm while it's recharging
6.Devising ways to cheat on exams
7.Getting people to stare at you

Well, according to the website, my iPod has shipped this evening (Pacific time, what time is it in Taiwan, I dunno...)! This is ordered from the Education store, and I ordered on the 24th.
Can't wait, although I bet with the Fedex 2-day shipping it won't be here til Monday. I can always keep my fingers crossed for Friday delivery, though!

Could all you Americans who are whining about your iPods not being shipped yet please spare a thought for those of us overseas? Here in Australia, the iPods are not even available to order yet, let alone ship. Furthermore, Apple Australia will not even tell its customers how much the iPods are going to cost in Australia. All you can do at the Apple Australia store is click on a link to "register your interest" in an iPod and receive an email when they become available.
I hope it's not like the iSub, which was not available in Australia until at least 6 months after it was available everywhere else.
What's even more maddening is that none of the stores in the US, such as Outpost etc, will ship the iPod outside the US. In fact, it's not possible to get any Apple hardware exported from the US. I assume this is a strategy by Apple to charge more to its international customers. I've noticed that the European prices for the iPod are considerably higher than the US prices.
It looks like I might have to get one on eBay, although even there, nearly everyone will only ship to the US.

Does anyone else see this in your FedEx tracking?
After leaving Taiwan the iPod is in Anchorage AK, the status is listed as:
"Regulatory Agency Clearance Delay"
Is this normal?

It's very normal...it's the Customs Office. It shouldn't take too long once it hits Customs. Mine's in the same limbo...*smile*

I got my iPod yesterday and the first thing I noticed when I opened it up is a big sticker over the screen that says, "Don't steal music" in four different languages. I love it!
(Corrected the spelling mistake. Sorry.)

What kind of music should we listen to? Iron? Bronze?

How did you find that out? Did you get an email/check your order status on the site/or call Apple?
Or was it simply after checking your bank balance?
Just curious so some of us can know if we share the same fate. I know there's plenty of room on the charge account I used, but I had assumed Apple would mention any problems they might have in billing.</STRONG>
Just a quick aside... credit cards/check cards are only checked for available credit at the time of purchase. Credit is captured (i.e., you are billed) only when your order ships. This is the law. We rarely think of it since usually the two things (authorization and capture) happen at the same time, for instance in a brick-and-mortar store (it 'ships' when you leave the register). But in the online ecommerce world, there can be (and often is) and delay between the two events, hence one must be careful not to let credit for one purchase be cannibalized by another!
Best, Paul

Mine has been anchored down in Anchorage all day. Looks like it will be next week instead of tomorrow.

My iPod went straight from Taiwan to the FedEx distribution center in Nashville, TN. Never had to go through customs. After that it came straight here to Houston. All in two days.

Ordered 11/4. Left Chung Ho City today. I've got my 4.6 gigs of music ready to download. It only took 3.5 hours to download it to my Nomad Jukebox. Should be a good first test.

I checked FedEx's web site, and they don't list Monday as a holiday which affects FedEx at all. If you're expecting a delivery on Monday, it ought to be there.

Hope you have something to keep you busy for about 15 minutes. The songs load onto the iPod very fast.
And Monday is not a holiday in the states. Sunday is but not Monday.

True, but most people (including the postal service) take Monday off. Veteran's Day is always the 11th, but don't underestimate Americans' resolve to take a day off regardless of the fact the actual holiday is on a weekend

We ordered on 10/27, my wife and I got confirmation that they were in the air as of 19:59 zulu time this evening from Chun Ho City, Taiwan. I suspect customs may be involved when they arrive but at least they shipped. My sister-in-laws is still being assembled which chaps her hide considerably because she ordered hers about five days before we did. They also apparently lost her order for OS 10.1. She's already on their case about it.

Just checked again, mine is 40 miles away, arrived in Denver an hour ago... maybe today? If not, Monday for sure. Would be nice to get it today, so I could listen to it while I wait for the new Aspen Grove store to open Saturday morning..
