Someone in our office killed their 20" Aluminum Cinema Display this week. Instead of letting them throw it on the curb, I said I'd take it and try to put the internals of my plastic 20" Cinema inside it. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can I simply open the two cases, swap in the good LCD and go?
And does anyone have a recipe for getting the Aluminum case opened? It looks completely seamless and I don't see any fasteners anywhere.

What do you mean by 'killed'? It is not like it couldn't be fixed… What a shame BTW, such a beautiful display…

If you take apart a cinema display, take pictures. Your ah..... are going somewhere nobody has been and talked about it. You may want to be mindfull of electrical saftey. I have no idea what power is applied in a LCD (CRT displays/ TVs can be dangerous). You would want to keep a small portion of the plastic frame inside of the aluminum frame to insulate from the aluminum frame. Your dealing with chassis grounding issues. 1) You do not want to have any power accidentally applied to the aluminum frame. 2) Besides the third prong on the power cord (line ground), you can also have chassis ground problems. I'll let an electrical whiz comment on that. I like your idea.
