The Apple Store Online states that the isights ship in October. Why does it take this long to receive an isight? Most of their computers have isights built in, so I am sure they don't have many orders to fill. Perhaps this means a new isight?

That very well could be as that is forever for iSight. Mine took about 3 days for me to recieve earlier this year, I think around March. They could have slowed down iSight production too. By the way, welcome to MacNN !

the mac mini or mac pro don't have isights (yet). So why should they slow down production? They must be putting isights in their cinema displays.

It would not surprise me if the iSight is getting a revision in the near future; it seems unlikely it would be in high demand at this point.

iSight was removed from the European stores a while back because it didn't meet environmental standards. It's likely that there is either a new iSight which they will be able to sell in europe again, or the iSight will be built into the displays.

I don't get this iSight Cinema Display idea because then people with multiple displays are going to have multiple cameras, and I doubt that there are that many Mac mini setups who would get an Apple Display setup with it, its a switchers/low end computer, spending more than the computer on a screen isn't in the mind of the average Mac mini customer, so a separate iSight is still viable.

PS. I know that there are people on here with Mac mini/Cinema Display setups, no offence meant to them and their machines.

Apple should give the user the option to buy a cinema display with the iSight or without it. That way, everyone wins.

Regarding the updated iSights: I wonder if Apple will modify the design or features of the unit. Maybe make it outshine it's predessesor. Apple could package FrontRow, PhotoBooth, remote and an iSight all in one package. Then everyone would be able to enjoy this software. At the very least, packaging PhotoBooth with iSight would be a nice gesture.
