I am relativly inexperienced so I apologise in advance if this is already covered and I have missed it.
I have an b version of imac with 198 mb memory and I have an epson 740 colour stylus printer.Iinitallty I had a lot of problems getting the printer to work but after installing some updates posted on Epsons website and the retailers sending me a later version cd the problems seemed solved.
I am using 8.6 by the way. The printer used to print in background mode until recently now it will only work with this switched off, if I put background printing on I have to ask it twice to print anything then cancel the second copy. sometimes for no reason I can detect it makes its mind up to print multiple copies and every time I print anything from the internet I have to preview it once and I get a postage stamp size preview I cancel that and ask it again and I get a normal sized one. These problems did not all come along together they seem to be getting steadily worse. I downloaded and reinstalled a new driver system from Epson website but this made no difference also I failed to mention it looses the USB driver occasionally on start up, again for no reason.
Please help, my knowledge level is insufficient.

I had problems similar to those when I had my 740 on a rev.B imac and 96 mb RAM. I'm not sure when you reinstall the drivers, it really reinstalls over every other piece of its software. I'd do a clean system install and a clean install of the Epson drivers before I did anything else.

I know that sounds pretty drastic, but there's a really good chance you'd have to do that anyway, even after you go through a bunch of diagnostic stuff.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it comes out.

Don
