Hello folks.

Does anyone know whether iPod can receive software upgrades? I love the idea of getting one, but would only do so if it had the ability to get a graphic equalizer in the future.

The reason I ask if because my girlfriend has significant hearing loss in upper frequencies. She now finds listening to music without a graphic equalizer to compensate weird. Fortunately, boosting the treble frequencies REALLY helps. (She now adores iTunes 2!) I'm assuming that if iPod can be upgraded, then a future version will have an equalizer.

If people don't know the answer, can someone recommend an e-mail address at Apple to find out about this issue?

Many thanks.

The firmware in the iPod will be upgradable. Apple says that this will happen to support new music formats.

As for the equalization, the rumor is that you will be able to adjust equalizer settings for the iPod through iTunes. I don't know exactly what form this will take, but we'll find out once they ship and people start reporting on it, I suppose.
