I've got new 1GB and 2GB SanDisk Cruzer Micro flash drives. When they're inserted into a few computers here, OS X asks what I want to do now that I've inserted a blank CD-R. 'Open Finder' is the default option, and if that's clicked, the 'Blank CD-R' folder (with the burn symbol on it) will stay on the desktop, even when the drive is removed, one computer had six of them on the desktop from the same flash drive.
I went into disk utility and saw this:

This happens on every Mac I've used. It shows up as both a flash drive and a CD-R. I can do anything I want to the flash drive, including reformatting, repartitioning, erasing, changing the partition scheme, etc., but the CD-R part is unaffected. Occasionally, the 'partition' button is clickable when the CD-R drive is highlighted, but if I click it, I get a 'bad file descriptor' error.
I saw someone on Amazon had the same problem, but reformatting worked for them. I suppose the workaround would be to set all of their computers to do nothing when a blank CD-R is inserted, like mine is set to, but I want to know if there's a better solution.
Thanks!
