I agonized for quite a while about whether or not to buy the Techworks CD-R. In the end, for the spec, although it's a dead cool and nice neat solution, I decided that it's a bit overpriced and slow. I also seem to remember Misha pointed out that by replacing the internal CD you can't do Disc-to-Disc. I opted for a Teac 8x24 SCSI external at about 60% of the price and no installation hassle. (Of course that's with an IProRaidTV SCSI card in a RevB).

I got one for my girlfriend's Rev D... installation was fairly simple and very clean. Playback mode works as well as the original, haven't burnt anything yet tho. minor problems with MacCDR software. They only sell thru their store because they are built to order.
