Good luck, guys. I bought my drive back in December 2000 and never received the rebate. So I called QPS around March or so and corrected the address they had on file for me (the rebate form said no P.O. boxes, but that's all I have...). She said I should get the check in early May. I STILL haven't gotten it.
It really sucks because they make you send in a piece of the original box, so I don't have that UPC anymore to prove that I should get the rebate. Oh, and the phone number for the rebate office is long distance and they put you on hold forever. It REALLY sucks. But they're counting on you giving up. That's why all these rebates are mail-in. F'ing fascists.

Yes, I can help you!!
I just got off the phone with QPS customer service. I brought up three issues with the rep I talked to. Firstly, I demanded that they finally give me the information I need to send in my drive which has been dead for almost two months. He was very apologetic that I hadn't been called earlier, and gave me the info I needed (my RMA number) (specifically, he told me that my RMA number is the same as my Case number).
Secondly, after then introducing myself as the moderator of the MacNN peripherals forum, I asked about this (lack of) rebate issue you are having. The rep told me that the rebate is handled entirely independantly of QPS itself. He gave me the url of this other company which does their rebates for them to pass on to you, and a phone number to call. <http://www.tcarebates.com> click "check rebate status", enter your last name and zip code, and it should tell you your rebates' status. If there is a problem, you can call the company directly at (914) 633-0977.
Thirdly, I expressed to him my great concern that QPS, a company which so strongly markets itself to Macintosh users, has such poor Mac support, in the specific area of the inability to upgrade the firmware on their FW burners from a Mac, and told him that this issue made it impossible for me to recommend their drive to other Mac users. He told me that this mattered to him, and that he would pass my concern along to Development. so we'll see what happens.
in the words of the great gorgonzola,
cheers!

I checked on the web site and it didn't have my information Great now I get to call them and have them tell me "uh we don't have your information". What a bunch of garbage. I hate rebates so much. Oh well, If I don't get this one, then I hope I get the HP rebate on my printer that I wasn't even aware of until like two days ago. Had I known this rebate was gonna be such a problem I would have gotten the Formac burner instead(not that I've had any problems with my Que 12x10x32 with the Teac mechanism) but some of the complaints against Que make me a little leary.

I have actually received my rebate. I bought the drive (4x4x24 Mitsumi) at the beginning of last summer. It took about 3 months and about 6 phone calls. I think the phone bill was like 3 dollars, all together. I kept calling QPS and whatever that other company is, and eventually, some guy at the mystery company admitted that they did have me on file and that I "had waited long enough" or something, and he said he would send it out right away, and about 1.5 weeks later it actually came in the mail. I think it was a check, I forget
anyway, the effort I put in was definitely not worth the rebate.

I got my rebate after about 5 months (no calls necessary).
My burner (12x10x32 Fire/Teac) died the month after I bought it and I got the replacement 2.5 months later (about 8 emails & 2 phone calls necessary).
The replacement works perfectly (unlike the first one which worked once in awhile and finally not at all).
I would say that even though I am very satisfied with the final product, I would advise folks with cash to blow...blow elsewhere, as the support at QPS blows.

I received my rebate cheque -- that's Canadian for "check"
I mailed my rebate in November and I received an email verification/approval in early January. The cheque arrived in March. That's almost five months so be patient, it often takes up to six months with some rebates.
The company who handles it all is:
TCA Fullfillment Services Inc.
145 Huguenot St., Suite 105
New Rochelle, NY 10801
TEL: 914-633-3393
Email: rebateline@aol.com
TCA Rebates
One finaly note: be patient... rebates are like a box of chocolates. Everybody has one but no one can wait to get at 'em
