I actually have installed memory into a 4/600 PS, although it isn't exactly the easiest thing to figure out with out directions or a technical manual. I sold the 4/600 a while ago so I'm working from memory here:
You notice that the left side of the computer is a little wider that the right side (looking at the paper tray that is). This is where the logic board and the ram socket is located.
You have to open up the toner bay lid in front, remove the toner, and also remove several long black screws here.
Then take out the paper tray (I don't remember if you have to take any screws out here though), and also remove the little paper toggle thing in the back of the machine.
The whole plastic skin has to come off (one way or another), and unfortunatly I don't remember exactly how to do that either. I do remember fighting with it for well over an hour, so don't give up too soon. Pull harder than you think you have too.
When you finally have the plastic case off, the bare machine should be before you with the cooling fan on the right side, and the logic board hidden underneath a metal sheild on the left side (the side with the localtalk connector on it). It's a few screws to take the cover off (be careful with these, because they are delicate). It's not an actual RAM socket like you may be use to on older or newer Macs. It's an Apple specific RAM socket (and it should be labled on the logic board).
That's as much as I can remember for now, so I hope that might have helped a little bit.
Good luck, and post the details of your adventure!
