Do I need driver for USB cd-burner to burn CD?

hello,
I new to Mac and I need to burn cd on the Mac.
I cd-burner I bought (usb burner from HP, it seems that HP does not have a driver for Mac)only has driver for Windows, now if I need to use it with the Mac, I guess I need Mac's driver in order for the burner to work on Mac.
However, I read somewhere that cd-burning software like Toast has the necessary drivers.
Could somebody help me out.

Adaptec (makers of Toast) have a list of CD-R drives compatible with Toast 3 and 4:
