I have a quick and I think easy question. Earthlink is offering a free USB digital camera with all new accounts. Since I have grown to loathe AOL, I have decided to do this.
Now about the camera, It looks decent, not great but not bad.
Since it is USB, do I only need to plug it into my imac and it will come up as a source, with all the pictures that were taken listed as jpegs? Or do I need some sort of software to get the pictures from the camera to my imac via USB?
The specs on the camera say it comes with software, but only for Windows systems.
I just want to make sure I can use this thing if I get it.

Thanks for your help.

that USB cam is ok... BUT if you call 1-800-earthlink and tell them you have an offer registration code #400042737, you will get a 17" monitor for free. offer ends March 31, 2000 and is good only for new accounts

you will have to stay with earthlink for a year at $21.95 per month and you will have to pay a one-time setup fee of $24.95 for the account (consider it 'shipping and handling')
and you will get an Argon 17" monitor. i did it, and i am happy with the monitor, my sister got one too.

and if you have more than one Mac as i do, hey it is a good deal...

Thanks, wlonh. I think I will go with the camera though. I really don't have a need for a new monitor.
I mean, I know I could hook it to my imac, but who really has the room? You still have to put the regular imac monitor somewhere, seeing how it has everything inside.

But back to my first question: How do I get the pictures into my imac? I hope it's fairly easy and just shows up on my desktop when I plug it in.

Thanks again for your help.
