I have a LaserWriter 4/600PS attached to a 7300/200. The computer is connected to the network by ethernet, and to the printer by printer cable. The only was I can get the
copmputer to "see" the printer is by setting apple tlak to printer port, which isolates me from the Appletlak network, and my other computers. When apple tlak is set to ethernet,
the printer is nowhere to be found in the choose, and the desktop print spooler says it can't find the printer. This used to work (Before I had to format the hard drive) with the
computer able to access the appletalk network, and the printer usable and sharable. What is going on?

I don't have an answer for why it used to work but doesn't now. I can tell you, however, that I use an Farallon Etherwave adapter to integrate my 4/600PS to my Ethernet/Airport network.

Good luck, though.

I think what you need is "Laser Writer Bridge". You can d/l it from Apple.

You can use a software approach using the localtalk bridge (available from Apple site) or the hardware approach using Asantetalk Ethernet to localtalk bridge.

I prefer the Asantetalk since its not buggy like localtalk bridge.

I have just purchased the Asantetalk from buy.com for $90 (shipping incl.) and its working great.
