Chances for further price drop on 15"LCD?

One thing that has slowed my decision on purchasing the 15" display is cost. I know it has come down in price, however it is still over $300 more than a Samsung or NEC.
Obviously, the Apple brand, quality and design is much better, but it goes for $929 Cdn. vs $599 Cdn. for the competitive brands.
Will Apple further reduce these costs at MWNY? That's what I'm waiting for.

It's possible that this may occur. Although frankly, I don't see the point in paying extra for the Apple brand on displays. The Cinema display is different as it's a unique size. Granted, the Apple LCDs look incredible(design wise that is). However, I still kick myself for spending $500 on an Apple Studio Display 17" CRT when at the same time there was a Sony Trinitron 17" that had better specs for $100 less. Plus, with Apple switching to that stupid ADC unless you have the latest revision of G4 or Cube, you'll need a ADC-DVI adapter which is another $50 or more. I if you find a deal on an LCD from another company go for it and save the extra money. YMMV though.

Yeah, I hear you. But, I can't seem to get over that "design" thing.
Thinking of picking up the now discontinued Cube and I can't see it sitting beside a beige coloured Samsung LCD display.
If Apple were to drop it by another $150, I'd bite.
Then again, if Apple introduces a high end G4 iMac with built in (14" minimum) display, that would also do the trick.

If you're not in a rush to purchase this item and you still don't have a Cube to hook it up to, I'd wait until MWNY to see what the announcements there are. If there's a price drop, that's where/when it'll be. Meanwhile, if there's a wild new Mac you'd rather have than the above combo, well, there you go.
Having said that, I cannot rave enough about my last-week-arrived 17" apple LCD. It's hooked up to my new Cube (c. March, 2001) and the package is absolutely stunning, not to mention the absolute clarity and beauty of the display image itself.
I had resolved to get whatever LCD Apple chose to come up with that was larger than the 15" (also a beautiful and effective display unit with the Cube), but smaller than the 22" ACD.
The Cube's untimely "icing" yesterday was a sad moment for all of us who love our Cubes, but my guess is that we'll be equally stunned in two weeks time.
Cheers and Good Luck,
TweetyMac

This is not really true. The Apple LCDs are digital flat panel while the models you are comparing them to are analog LCDs.
Analog LCDs are not worth the money. Other than saving some deskspace you don't get the ultracrisp image of a digital LCD and you get even worse color representation.

Apple's displays are made by Samsung.
