Hey peeps..
Got an odd problem going on here.. Maybe some of you can shed some light. A while ago, I got a 4 port Belkin USB card to put in my old 8200 (Thats a glorified 7200 to you Merkins). Actually, I only needed a 2 port one, but the shop had run out, so had to settle for a 4 porter.
Anyway, only 1 port worked. Which I thought was perhaps cos the 8200 was old, and not up to full USB capability. But as 1 port was all I needed, it was ok for me.

So.. yesterday, someone GIVES me a beige G3 266! (Cant complain eh..) So, I take out the USB card from the 8200.. Install it in the G3, with drivers etc. And the G3 wont even boot! It stops just as it starts loading the extensions. And gives me "Error 11" it wont even boot if I hold the shift key to turn the extensions off. It will however, boot from my OS 9 CD. Once I removed the USB card, it can boot of the HD again just fine.. (Running OS 9.1 btw).
So, does all this point to my Belkin USB card being Kaput!? Or is there something stupid I missed?
Many thanks for help, suggestions and wittyness etc etc.

Hmmmnnnn. That's odd. The OS should ignore it without the drivers. I'm not sure why it would not boot, but you may want to try removing it, installing the drivers (use Apple's USB Adapter Card Support 1.4.1, not whatever Belkin gives you), then installing the card. You may also want to update from 9.1 to 9.2.2.

Asside from that, you may need to go through the usual troubleshooting reoutines, reset the CUDA, clean install, etc.

Good luck!

hehe! Well, as it happens, the guy that gave me the G3, also gave me a brand spanking new PCI USB 2 port card. (XLR8 one this time) Popped it in the same slot.. And that works fine. But as I already had a 4 port card, I kinda wanted to use that instead.
Oh, and I was using the Apple USB adapter card support V1.4.1 drivers already (I should have mentioned that in my original post)
I did not try the CUDA thing.. Not even sure where the CUDA button is in this Mac.. I'll have a good poke around in there another time.
As for OS.. I'm kinda partial to OS 9.1 It's works nicely for me. From what I hear, OS 9.2.2 was mostly for OS X compatabililty.. Right? (and I am not running X on this Mac)
Anyway, Fanx for the replies folks!
