What I want to know is, have any of you have switched from a 19"CRT to a 17"LCD at that resolution and if so how is it? Does it feel like things get much smaller? I'd love to get the LCD but not if things will appear too small at that res.

At work: 19" Trinitron CRT @ 1152x864 (better) + 1280x1024 (good) PeeCee
At home: 2-17" Samsung CRT @ 1024x768 PeeCee or 1 on Pismo
Pismo 14.1" LCD @ 1024x768
My computers are at their perfect resolutions. I wouldn't go up or down.
I think 1280x1024 would be a good rez on 17" LCD. I would probably prefer something a little higher since I'd be getting 3 more inches of useable space.
Remember, on a CRT you have about 1-1.5" less optimal viewing area than an equivalent CRT depending on your tolerances.
