I tried out my G4 with my friends 19" CRT monitor (Dell M991) because I am interested in buying one, OSX set it up for me I assume because the name of the screen was recognized and chosen in the display control panel. The quality was very good for games suck as Quake 3, and Giants but when browsing in OSX (finder) it was bad. First of all the text looked crap, I had to turn off text smothing to make it better and the red, yellow, and green buttons were unclear, they looked like they were displayed in 256 colors or like a dithered GIF image, but the rest of the desktop was fine all the icons looked fine. This is suprising because all the games looked great! Are there any known issues about this? I dont want to buy a crap screen, and I dont want to find out that certain applications do this 256 color effect. By the way it was set at 1024x768 at 85Hz with millions of colours. Please tell me its an OSX bug, I want this screen to please me!

Regards
ross
