I have a PowerBook G4 15" 1.67MHz running 10.4.7. I am trying to use my Epson 1660 scanner with Image Capture.

I have successfully used this scanner with Image Capture before.

Recently, I sent my computer in to Apple for repair (one of my RAM bays was not working). Apple replaced my logic card and fixed the problem with my RAM bay. During the repair process, my hard drive was reformatted/replaced. All my computer's hardware seems to be functioning properly now. Nevertheless, after reinstalling and recovering all of my applications and files, Image Capture no longer works with my scanner.

Specifically, the "Overview" function in Image Capture works, but the "Scan" function does not. During a scan, the scanner begins to scan part of the document (I can hear it). Somewhere during the scan, however, the scanner pauses indefinitely. When this happens, the large green light on the outside of the scanner flashes indefinitely. Image Capture also becomes unresponsive (even to the "Cancel" selection), unless I unplug the scanner and plug it back in AND restart my computer.

I normally would plug the scanner into my USB HUB. I have tried plugging it directly into my PowerBook, but to no avail. I have also downloaded the TWAIN driver (from 2002) for the scanner off of Epson's website (which I did not do before). This also did not help.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thank you.

Solved my own problem.

It turns out the file name I was trying to use was invalid. (It included brackets like these: "[" & "]".)

Thank you and sorry for the precipitous/impetuous post.
