I bought a formac firewire cd burner for use with my powerbook G4. I'm using toast 5 as the burning software. Everytime I'm starting to burn a cd the screen is getting black after 2-10sec and I have to restart my computer (and the cd I was trying to burn can go to the trash) . Does anyone knows where this problem may come from.I had the same incompatibility when I tried first with an older version of toast.

Are you powering the CD burner from the FW bus? If you are I suspect that this is at the heart of your problem. I believe that I read somewhere that Formac recommend using the power adaptor rather than bus power - especially if you are burning at the top speed. The only other thing I can think of is that you have your energy saving control panel set up in some eccentric fashion which is disturbing your CD burner.
