Ouch. I got my Studio Display just yesterday afternoon - hooked it up to the cube - absolutely gorgeous. This thing is incredible. Did the software install for 9.1, worked fine in 9.1 and X, surfed, watched a DVD (Mission Impossible); did a couple of reboot cycles, everything worked fine. Put the machine to sleep for the night.

This morning: get up, wake up the computer, check my email, then - phht. Display blacks out. The control light on the right is still on, I can use it to shut down, restart, sleep - but no display. Unplug everything, plug in just the display, keyboard and speakers on the computer ports - nada. Unplug everything again, hook up a VGA display (absolutely barbaric compared to the Studio) - display works fine. Bummer. Called apple support, and they're sending out a box to ship the display back. Of all the electronic goodies I've used over the years, this is the first immediate (or almost) out of the box hardware failure I've had.

Back to using that space heater of a CRT for a while longer

2muchcoffee, heading out for another cup.
