Hi there

Just wondering if any of you have managed to get an ipod working with a non firewire powerbook via the use of a PC card . I have a PB wallstreet 266 and would like to use it with an ipod. Do you think it is possible?

Thanks
Judd

Yes. My roommate has exactly this combo. Apparently there's a special mode you can put the iPod into (search on the Apple Support forums -- that's where he found this info) which allows iTunes to see and update the iPod through the PC card FW adaptor.

The card you want is the RATOC firewire PC Card. It has a little jack to plug in an optional AC power adaptor. I use it in my Wallstreet and can use the iPod and a bus-powered firewire drive without problems. The mess of dongles and cables means it's more of a desk-bound solution than a portable one, but it does work.
