Does anybody know if I can get an adapter to convert a 40 pin Fiber Channel SCSI to a 50 pin or 68 pin internal, or even to an external 50 pin? If these adapters do exist, would anyone know where I could find one? I bought a 1/2 height 9.1 GB 7200 RPM Barracuda Fiber Channel drive real cheap. If I can't use it in one of my Macs, I might consider putting a PCI fiber channel card in one of the PCs around here if I can pick up one cheap. Any information about fiber channel drives would be helpful. It seems that most of these drives are used in servers. I really like SCSI drives because they are built to last nearly forever. Many SCSI drives have a life expectancy of over 2 million hours compared to 500,000 hours for the IDE/ATA drives that ship with new Macs. Also, I've never seen a SCSI drive on a Mac just die without a lot of warning like these ATA drives can. I had a 3 month old Maxtor 60 GB just die and I lost trust in that type of drive. It started making a noise that sounded like leaky pipes in the wall and froze, never to start again. Of course Apple replaced the drive and was great about it, but I lost enough stuff that I was greatly inconvenienced for a long time.
