just wondering if any of you guys had any good choices for NICE computer desks. i'm not talking about the stuff that staples or officemax sells, but something that looks nice and looks modern.
i looked at Haworth but there were out of my price range.
just got done browsing through Herman Miller RED and they seem to have some pretty nice furniture at a reasonable price. I was looking at the RED Spider Desk in particular.
some of you may suggest looking at anthro, but they're too bland and cost a pretty penny.
what are you guys using?

If you can find one I'd suggest an old MacTable. They're really nice.

milhous,
Take care with Ikea — some of their stuff has value, but a lot of it is badly made and does not hold up well.
I like Ikea's catalog, store and meatballs, but I almost never end up buying anything from them.

Hey, just get two file cabinets from Bisley and put a hollow-core door on top for the desktop. Easy, portable and upgradable. T

Just thought I'd point out that these are not sold by Ikea (I think people are confused). They are sold by Poetic Technologies.
The Poetic workstations are very cool, but also very pricey (IIRC, the price range is about $5K - $10K USD).
The Ikea stuff is like Vader's, above, which is also nice, and probably much more reasonably priced. I love Ikea stuff too.

I went to a store here in Dallas called Eurway that sells innovative furniture. Most of their stuff is pretty cool in which they look very artsy and post modern. I bought the Helsinki desk with hutch for $269. They only have 3 locations in Texas but you can visit their website at http://www.eurway.com/.
I hope this helps.

IKEA seriously scares me. They opened one up near my home last year and people camped out in front for the openning... Since then they've increased the size of the road that leads to it, added several traffic lights, and converted a couple huge lots into parking. Even after all that they don't have enough parking and are in the midst of building a HUGE parking structure. The one time I went in there (a friend and I went to see what all the hype was about) I got lost and couldn't find my way out for nearly 45 minutes. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.
And like I said before, find an old MacTable, they're great!
