I have a wallstreet and am planning to upgrade to a Ti. However, I wanted to go ahead and get RAM (256) if I can use it now in the Wallstreet, then move it over when I upgrade.
will the low profile 256 chip work in both? If so where is a good place to get it?

Physically the chip will fit, but I wouldn't use it. The difference is the Wallstreet (black keyboard) and Lombard (bronze keyboard, no FireWire) PowerBook's used PC66 SO DIMMs for RAM. The Pismo (bronze keyboard w/ FireWire) and new TiBook's use PC100 SO DIMMs.
66MHz RAM would work in both, but is slower than the PowerBook G4's potential. The 100MHz is faster than the Wallstreet/Lombard was made to support and may cause problems, if it let's you boot at all.

thanks! I called macsolutions.com earlier and they gave a thumbs down on it, just said "nope, won't work".
I just ordered a 256 MB chip for the wallstreet for $89 from macsolutions.com, I think that is cheap enough. I will just cough up the $200 or so when I get the G4 later...

I received the ram I bought for the wallstreet, and it says 'pc100' on there. It fits and works fine.
when I ordered it, they did not say if it was low profile or not - but isn't the pc100 what is used in the g4?

From everything I've read the TiBook uses PC100 SO (small outline) DIMMs so that chip should transfer. It's odd that it works in your Wallstreet. I guess you're lucky on that one
