I'm hoping this is a useful piece of info. I was messing with my remote and I never knew you could put your Mac to sleep with it. It was quite a surprise to me. I was messing with a friend on video chat and i was holding down the play button at the camera and watching the infrared light blink and all of a sudden... Sleep. Now that i know that i can just be listening to music in bed and will never have to get up!.. Does this come as a surprise to anyone else or did i just figure it out late?

Yeah, I use this all the time with the iMac which is setup as a media center just running Frontrow and EyeTV, the keyboard and mouse are away in a cupboard. Worked great.
Unfortunately when EyeTV 'integrated' their app into Frontrow with version 2.3 they hijack the apple remote and this function no longer works if you're viewing tv!. bit of a backward step there .

I think it's even noted in the manual that you can do this, isn't it? It's a rad feature, but I never feel safe leaving my Mac sleeping. No idea why, it just worries me
