I own a PowerComputing PowerCenter Pro 210 upgraded with a G3 processor, running OS 8.6. I would like to use the new Apple optical USB mouse, but continue to use the ADB keyboard. I am considering installing the Keyspan USB PCI card to help me achieve this. I wonder whether the new mouse will work off the USB port. Does anyone have experience with this sort of thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Edlern,
Yes, it will work with a PCI USB card. The Apple optical mouse is nice, but you might also consider some optical scroll mice.... A slew of manufacturers make them now and would give you more control/features... Microsoft, Kensington, Logitech, XLR8 all make them...
good luck

I just love the Microsoft Intellipoint Explorer. IMHO, there is no better mouse on the market right now.

Hi ddiokno and giantmike,
Thanks for your quick replies. I'll certainly consider the alternatives to the Apple mouse, now that I know I can achieve what I was concerned with.

The only problem with the PCI cards is they do not load at start up. So your mouse will not work until the drivers load. So if you need to boot with exensions off then you wont have a mouse. Just keep that ADB mouse around in case you need it.
