Howdy, I have a Blue Dalmation imac with slot loading cd.
I just brought 2 new cd's and when i put them into my imac so i could import the songs into iTunes, the cd tries to read them, makes some strange noises, and then ejects them. These 2 cd's play fine in 3 of the other cd players in my house, and work when i tried them on my pc. All the other audio cd's that i have work fine in my imac, but these 2 keep on ejecting.
Have anyone got any ideas? Or know what to do? Help would be greatly appreciated.

by the way, i don't know if this makes any difference, but the 2 cd's are :
-alanis morisette -under rug swept
-red hot chilli peppers -by the way

both cd's are proper, original cd;s and not copied/burnt ones.

Thanks!

There's a new copy protection on CDs that has known issues with Macs. That might be it.

They should mention in there the new copyright security system and may even say that it will damage a mac. Take it back to the store and get a refund!

is there anything i can do to get around this?
because i would really like my songs to be on my itunes!

would burning the cd to a blank cd on a pc and then putting the burnt cd in my imac work? or would the burnt cd still carry the protection!
grr im not happy! hehe. all i wanted to do was put the songs on my imac, thats no security breech.
this happened to anyone else?
will all the cd's i buy from now on have the security thing?
grrr.

thanx for your help people...!

First of all... If you are playing Celine Dion CD's on your Mac, perhaps your Mac has taste and just doesn't want to play then?

Seriously, my Mac (beige G3) had problems reading CD's recently. Finally, it dawned on me to open up the CD-ROM and clean the laser lens. Now it works like a champ again. The only reason I thought of this was because my PlayStation 2 stopped reading CD's & DVD's. My options were to send it to Sony + $100 for repairs, or take the risk and open 'er up. After a lens cleaning, my PS2 worked great. I know it's a little tricky to get at the lens on a slot loading iMac, but it might be the problem. It's amazing what a little alcohol and a q-tip can do. If its only problem is reading those 2 cd's, and everything else works fine, I might not bother. Import them on another machine and bring them over to the iMac via network or something.
Don't bother with those CD lens cleaning cd's, they almost never work.
