Apple Cinema Display, Video Cards and 2xAGP-What do I do?

Hi all,
My wife has given me the green light to buy a Cinema Display. Yep, I am in my midlife crisis thing... No, really, I can now purchase one. The question is...What are my video card upgrade options with a G4 Dual Processor with 2xAGP? I cannot use the new NVIDA card, as it requires 4xAGP. I cannot buy a PCI card from a manufacturer, as they will not have the Apple Display Connector on them. Can a 4xAGP card run in a 2xAGP slot even if it cannot reap the benefit, or are the completely incompatible? It looks like my only upgrade option from the stock card is a Radeon. I know, it isn't the WORST thing out there, hehe, but is that as far as I can ever go? Any help, suggestions or comments would be much appreciated!
Bob Morel

Your only option is to get the best DVI-I graphics card to fit into your machine, I think the ATI Radeon for you. Then I am afraid you will have to shell out another $300 for a ADC-DVI adapter (www.gefen.com).
That is the only way I know of…
Good luck with your wife on that one, at least the monitor dropped in price…

I am quite confident that any AGP card will work in any AGP slot, but only as fast as the slower of the two. So if you stick a 4x capable card in a 2x slot, the card will just drop down to 2x.

Why can't you just buy the Radeon upgrade kit from the Apple Store's Accessories page? It's the best card "shipping" for the mac (the GeForce3 is not shipping) and it has the ADC connector you need.

I ended up getting the Radeon and the ACD. I guess I wonder...will they stop making 2xAGP cards down the road? I figure I should get the best I can, and that should last me a couple of years. Oh, what a terrible, terrible predicament to be in...

Thanks for the help, guys-
Bob

Okay, I was accidentally shipped an ADC Cinema Display today and unfortunately have a DVI PowerMac G4 (I did mean to order the DVI version).

So, what's the final resolution...CAN I buy an AGP or PCI Radeon video card which has an ADC connector for my new Cinema Display or do I have to fork over $300 for that Gefen box?

Thanks for any assistance!
