Hello All

Can anyone help?

I have inserted my old Powerbook 10Gb disk into a "Macally" enclosure which I connect to my Powerbook ( G4 Titanium) via firewire cable and all seems OK . The disk mounts ( 2 of 2 partitions). I have installed OS 9.2 on the first partition and startup Disk control panel ( OS 9) and Startup Disk Pref Pane ( OS X) recognize the drive as having a valid system folder that can be used for booting . However when I reboot I get a blinking question mark then the powerbook defaults to one of my internal partitions. Also when I reboot with the option key depressed the firewire disk does not appear as one of the boot up choices. Any help or clues would be appreciated

Tom

Some enclosures are simply not bootable. Not sure if the MacAlly one is one.

What makes these drives bootable, I am getting one from my reseller that I can use for an external cdrw or ide drive, but he thinks that OSX is not at all bootable from any Firewire drive.
I know this to be incorrect, but what part of the spec is it that makes the drive bootable?

The reseller told me it has the Oxford 911 chipset.
